Michael Cera’s Effort to Go Method for ‘Crystal Fairy’ Failed

michael-cera-crystal-fairyMichael Cera decided to go Method on his new film Crystal Fairy by doing the same drugs his character does.

Cera admitted to The Huffington Post that he and his cast-mates tried doing mescaline to experience what their characters would have on the same type of hallucinogenic trip.

“We cooked the cactus for the movie and drank it, but it didn’t work,” Cera confessed.  “We had this plan to do it and not film because that was going to be overwhelming for everyone.  We ended up drinking it and shooting that day, and everyone was fine and nobody felt anything.

“Maybe it was because we were working or something.  We were all in work mode…Maybe we got the wrong cactus.  Is that possible?”

The film, which is currently screening at Sundance Film Festival, did teach Cera one thing—he does not like boiled cactus.  “It’s a very kind of acrid, earthy, terrible taste,” he said.  “It’s almost like a wheatgrass shot, that terrible taste that keeps revisiting you.  It shouldn’t be eaten.  Nature didn’t want you to eat it.”

I hate to say this, but I have studied Stanislavski and I have to say that Michael Cera you may be a nice person and good actor, but “what drugs were you doing?” when you decided that to play the druggie you had to BECOME ONE?? that is just insane, not to mention dangerous. Actors are atheletes (OK some of us are not olypians) and I can get maybe losing or gaining weight if done carefully, but you get your body addicted to anything and no matter how strong you may say you are- you put yourself at risk of NEVER being the same again.

Forgetting lines? Corpsing? Delivering lines in Spanish? Unruly props? All in a day’s work on the set of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, apparently. Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, and the rest of the cast find plenty of humor while playing super-serious secret agents in the Marvel Universe. While you’re waiting for season 2 of the series […]

Audition Tapes: Robin Wright and Haley Joel Osment Audition with Tom Hanks for ‘Forrest Gump’
Check out Robin Wright auditioning for the role of Jenny from Forest Gump opposite Tom Hanks. Interestingly enough, Hanks doesn’t quite have Gump’s southern drawl down just yet while the other actors audition with him. In fact, Hanks would base Gump’s voice on the voice of Michael Conner Humphreys, who played the young Forrest and […]
