Bill Murray’s Advice on How to Do Your Best Work

Bill Murray is considered one of the most versatile and quirky actors in the entertainment industry. How does he continue to deliver high-level work in every phase of his career?

He shared a few of his insider secrets during the Toronto International Film Festival this fall. The St. Vincent star thinks an actor performs better when they are relaxed.

“You have to remind yourself that you can do the very best you can when you’re very, very relaxed, no matter what it is, whatever your job is,” Murray said. “The more relaxed you are, the better you are. That’s sort of why I got into acting. I realized the more fun I had, the better I did. I thought, well, that’s a job I could be proud of.”

It’s a great reminder for performers who often wait until the scene is over to relax. Or maybe an actor waits until the end of the day to kick back. What would happen if you took Murray’s advice and relaxed during the scene? It might enhance your performance.
