As you move further into your career as an actor, you need to realize that it is not going to be easy. You are going to face disappointment, you are going to get knocked back, you will wonder why you ever started this and you might even tell yourself for a minute that maybe Janine from down the road is right – there is too much competition.
And when this happens, you need to find that bad-ass warrior inside, pick yourself up and find your WHY.
Why did you get started in the first place?
What would it mean to you to achieve what you have envisioned?
What would it mean for your family? Your friends? The people who you don’t know who could be inspired by you?
Why acting above all else?
If your motivation is purely to get rich and famous, you are not going to survive – they are not enough. You need to find the deep reason why it is that you MUST keep going, why you MUST make this happen, why there’s no question about it and there’s no such thing as “I can’t”.
Bad-ass warriors do not quit. They do not focus on the problem but on finding the solution.
If they can’t afford to travel for auditions, they will find a way of increasing their income.
If they are struggling with time, they will make time by ditching something else that is less important.
If they can’t get time off the day job for their acting work, they will put a plan in place to create income in a way that allows them to be free.
If someone tries to bring them down, they will use it as motivation to keep aiming higher.
If they are not booking work, they will assess what they are already doing, figure out where they are going wrong, make any changes and then keep going until they do start booking work. HOWEVER LONG THAT TAKES.
There’s no magic formula. No pill you can swallow to make your acting dreams come true. No one person who is going to turn up and make it happen for you- YOU ARE THAT PERSON. It’s about passion, perseverance, bravery and a bad-ass attitude and that all starts with your reason why.
What is your reason WHY?
You weren’t born to be ordinary… You were born to shine!
