Matthew McConaughey’s ‘Dazed and Confused’ Audition is Exactly as Cool as You Think It Is

There’s always an amazing amount of archival material on Criterion Collection DVD and Blu-ray releases. One of those priceless gems is on the specialty label’s edition of Dazed and Confused.

As one of the best high school films of the 1990s, Dazed and Confused features plenty of stars in their earliest roles. However, the most memorable actor in the film is undoubtedly Matthew McConaughey, who plays that token 20-something who is still hanging out with high schoolers. The film essentially established McConaughey’s “just keep livin'” persona, and with good reason — as this audition from the Criterion release, McConaughey had that part nailed from the get-go.
