Ghost in the Shell is so visually stunning, that if you plan to check it out, it’s got to be viewed on an IMAX screen.
"Breathing life into a character means celebrating and recognizing the fullness of them..." - Scarlett Johansson
'Hail, Caesar!' is an incredibly fun and loving tribute to old Hollywood.
Chef, in which new mother Scarlett Johnasson played a supporting role, was released on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD this week. While she might be taking a brief break from acting after filming Avengers: Age of Ultron to enjoy motherhood, she’s never too far from the Hollywood spotlight. In fact, though most first heard of Johansson because of her breakthrough role in 2003’s Lost in Translation, people tend to forget that Johansson was acting for nearly a decade before that and appeared in films like North, Home Alone 3, and The Horse Whisperer as a child actor. Johansson actually tried out ... Read more
The most important thing to remember when you consider the news that Sandra Bullock topping this year’s Forbes list of highest earning actresses is that the movie that is most responsible for that achievement, Gravity, was a movie that Warner Bros. was unsure about releasing. That gamble paid off for Warner Bros., since Gravity grossed $716 million at the worldwide box office. It also paid off for Bullock: Forbes estimates that Bullock earned an astounding $51 million between June 2013 and June 2014 because of her roles in 2013’s Gravity and The Heat. Bullock made about a third less than ... Read more
In recent roles in movies like Her and Under the Skin, Scarlett Johansson has made a concentrated effort to not appear as “Scarlett Johansson” (and in the case of Her, she didn’t appear at all). It’s difficult for an actress of her notoriety (and beauty) to disappear into a role when executives want to put that famous face on posters and other marketing material. In a recent interview with Vulture, Johansson spoke at length on how she answers the challenge of finding opportunities to sink into roles. Regarding fighting against the perception that it’s tough for her not to be ... Read more

However, in Lucy Johansson is finally starring as the lead in her first all-out action movie, which is directed by Leon: The Professional director Luc Besson. In conversation with Vulture, Johansson spoke about why she decided to take her first lead role in an action movie, how she portrayed the character’s fluctuating abilities, and where she thinks her career is headed. Johansson admits that the main reason she decided to ... Read more
There are times when I’ve watched a movie, the house lights come up and I think to myself, “What the hell did I just see?” Under the Skin was one of those movies. Directed by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast), the film is based on the novel by Michael Faber and I sincerely hope that the novel has more of a plot than the film, which has an alien (Scarlett Johansson) taking over a dead woman’s body. She then drives around the streets of Scotland searching for men – only men – who have no family or loved ones, inviting them ... Read more

Scarlett Johansson started out her career in small, independent films, but that hasn’t stopped her from becoming a part of the Marvel franchise. She made her big-budget film debut in 2010’s Iron Man 2 as Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow. Johansson spoke with the The Wall Street Journal about her reasons for taking on the role. She said, “I was like, I want to be part of something big like that. I want to be in a really successful, huge film that’s good and works.” The action sequences didn’t deter her either. “I wanted to prove to myself that I ... Read more
As much as I like most of the big-budget films that Jon Favreau has directed, if he just stuck to smaller, personal films like Chef, you would never hear a complaint from me. Chef, written, directed and starring Favreau, is a little gem of a movie. Though, to be honest, if he cut out 15 minutes, it would make the film that much better. Favreau stars as Chef Carl Casper, one of the top Chef’s in Los Angeles. When the biggest food critic in town decides to re-review the restaurant he works at, the owner (Dustin Hoffman) wants to play ... Read more

Just because you’ve won a Tony doesn’t mean you can rest on your laurels—at least according to Scarlett Johansson. The actress, who won her award for 2010’s A View from the Bridge, is currently starring in Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. But she isn’t taking the role lightly.
Scarlett Johansson, currently in previews for the new Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, was profiled on this past weekend's CBS Sunday Morning.
Scarlett Johansson has made her return to Broadway -- her first time since her 2010 debut in Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge -- as Maggie in Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Famously, Janet Leigh, star of Psycho, is killed off much earlier in the landmark film than audiences ever expected in a gruesome shower scene, which has since become one of the most famous murder scenes in film history.
In theaters: November 23rd
Tony Award-winner Scarlett Johansson will return to Broadway to star as Maggie, with Ciarán Hinds as Big Daddy, Benjamin Walker as Brick and Tony and Emmy Award-winner Debra Monk as Big Mama in Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
