Watch: Daisy Ridley’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Audition

Star Wars films have often brought new talent to the forefront, and the latest ongoing trilogy is no different. Star Daisy Ridley was an unknown before landing the lead role of Rey, and asking an inexperienced actress to virtually carry most of a film expected to be a major blockbuster was a gigantic challenge.

Surprisingly, Ridely was asked to perform one of the movie’s most intense scenes — the torture scene with Kylo Ren — during her audition. What impressed the onlookers was the emotional depth Ridley was able to get out of the scene.

You can check out a clip of her audition from the Blu-ray of Star Wars: The Force Awakens above, which also includes some discussion on her casting.
