Watch: A Conversation with Stockard Channing

Stockard Channing talks about collaborating with other actors in live theater, disappointment with her early career, and starring in a Broadway show that opened and closed on the same night

Today is Broadway favorite Stockard Channing‘s 72nd birthday. Though she has done plenty of television and film roles as well, Channing is best known for her numerous appearances on Broadway, including her most recent role in 2014’s It’s Only a Play. Channing made her Broadway debut in the 1971 production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, and though she had memorable roles on The West Wing and in Grease and Six Degrees of Separation, she’s hardly been out of the New York theater scene for more than a few seasons.

In this 90-minute Q&A session presented by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and moderated by Broadway World’s Richard Ridge, Channing talks about collaborating with other actors in live theater, disappointment with her early career, and starring in a Broadway show that opened and closed on the same night (1973’s No Hard Feelings).
