Don’t Expect to See Reality TV Stars on The Hollywood Walk of Fame

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which deems who is "worthy" of a star (of course, footing the $30,000 for the star yourself is part of the worthiness), there is an unofficial ban on reality television "stars" from joining the Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a big deal to some people as fans of certain individuals have gone on extensive campaigns to get their favorite celebrity a star — but don’t bother launching a campaign for anyone on Jersey Shore or Pawn Stars

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which deems who is “worthy” of a star (of course, footing the $30,000 for the star yourself is part of the worthiness), there is an unofficial ban on reality television “stars” from joining the Walk of Fame.  Though nothing is set in stone, Walk of Fame spokesperson Ana Martinez says that adding reality television stars is “just not on the radar for us right now.”  Considering that longevity is one of the requirements for a star, I don’t think the Chamber of Commerce has much to worry about.  This doesn’t mean people have done reality shows won’t be considered — after all, Hulk Hogan, Gene Simmons, and Ozzy Osbourne all have stars, but they’re more likely known for their other accomplishments than for their reality television gigs.  Perhaps the only “reality star” was has a star is Ryan Seacrest, but his is for his radio accomplishments.

But what’s your take on it?  If you care about the Hollywood Walk of Fame — I know a lot of people don’t — do you think reality television stars should be banned from receiving stars?

Hell no! lol The walk of fame should be reserved for actual actors with talent. I can’t stand how reality shows are taking over television. All I see in reality tv is people with absolutely no class making fools of themselves with needless drama. Disgusting.
