Okay, maybe that’s not fair in the case of Tom Hanks, who has received nearly across-the-board praise for his role in his Broadway debut Lucky Guy and thus, with little surprise, a Tony nomination.

Though it wouldn’t be inaccurate to say Lucky Guy is the Tom Hanks show — after all, Hanks, one of the most popular film actors of the last three decades, is making his Broadway debut in the Nora Ephron play — the Forrest Gump star isn’t doing a one-man show. One of the other primary members of the cast is Maura Tierney, who plays Alice McAlary, the wife of Hanks’ character Mike McAlary.

Back in October it was revealed that one-time Oscar winner Al Pacino was making a guaranteed $125,000 per week starring in Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway. While two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks might not be making that much as a base salary for his Broadway debut in Lucky Guy, I think it’s fair to say the title of the play reflects his earning prospects quite well.
