The nominations for the 18th Annual SAG Awards were announced this morning while I was patiently sitting in an airport waiting to board my flight to JFK.
Congrats to all the nominees!
But, I just have one WTF as I go through the list: Glee was nominated as in the Ensemble category? The cast is fine with Jane Lynch, Heather Morris and Matthew Morrison being the standouts but nominating the cast for best ensemble? Seriously?

An increasing number of British and Australian actors are adopting the American tongue for starring roles here in America.
Why the recent influx?
“I think one of the reasons has to do with the collapse of the British film industry,” says Marc Hirschfeld, executive vice president of casting at NBC Universal Television. “The fact that there isn’t as much in the work in the U.K. as there has been in the past has opened things up a bit for them. The talent pool … is stretched incredibly tight,” Hirschfeld says.
“I’m sure working actors don’t like to hear that, but it is indeed the case. To find the depth of experience that we usually require in those leads, the U.K. and Australia are great places to go.”

Simon Baker is undaunted by having to depict a hyper-aware character whose thinking process unfolds before the audience in his new series, ‘The Mentalist‘.
“I’ve had a bit more problem with the showmanship side of it, because I haven’t really played roles like that,” he said.
