San Diego’s GI Film Festival Returns
The GI Film Festival is back for its second year with even more film screenings, panel discussions, a family movie night and an awards ceremony. Beginning September 14 and running through the 18th, the festival brings a local flavor to films that highlight San Diego’s military.
The festival, who’s goal is to bring the stories of America’s military to life through film, iill feature 28 films for, about and by members of the military. These films, which feature San Diego area filmmakers, locations, and people, will be primarily shown on Sunday, Sept. 18 at the UltraStar Cinemas Mission Valley at Hazard Center.
The festival will have a Local Film Showcase Awards and Ceremony. The categories include Best Student Film, Best Documentary Short, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Feature, Local Choice Award, and Audience Choice Award (throughout the festival, movie-goers will be able to vote for their favorite films to receive the “Audience Choice Award”). The winners will be announced at the GI Film Festival San Diego’s Closing Celebration and Awards Ceremony, held at the DoubleTree Mission Valley in the Hazard Center.
