Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey delivered a different kind of speech two weeks ago when he spoke with the Texas Longhorns football team after their close 20-17 loss to UCLA. The moment was a bit odd, but hilarious at the same time.

Coach Charlie Strong was the one who invited the Dallas Buyers Club star to inspire the team. McConaughey graduated from the University of Texas in 1993.

The 44-year-old actor then launched into a motivational speech. He said, “I just wanted to come, not come preach anything, not come tell you anything, just wanted to have a conversation with you, see how you all are doing, look some of you in the eye. Last night I was thinking about what I do, thinking about what you all do, and I was asking myself this question, why do I do what I do? Why am I an actor? And I was gonna ask you all, why do you play football?”

He then preaches lots of ‘why’ questions at the team until he actually answers the questions for them.

McConaughey added, “Feels good going out on Saturdays when it’s the big show, right? Hell yeah it does. Feels a whole lot better after a ‘W’ than an ‘L.'”

Then he had the entire team go into the Wolf of Wall Street chant.

It’s kind of nice having an Academy Award winner to lead the team to victory.
