Coming out just in time for awards consideration (and it’s been considered for many awards) is A Most Violent Year, the period crime drama starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain that was written and directed by J.C. Chandor (All Is Lost).

In this conversation sponsored by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation moderated by Jenelle Riley of Variety, Isaac, Chastain, and Chandor discuss the film. It also contains the surprising revelation that Isaac received his SAG card for playing Fartman in Lenny the Wonder Dog. What a badge of honor! In addition, Chastain and Chandor discuss how Chastain pushed for her Julliard classmate Isaac to be cast in the film when the original male lead actor dropped out. Remember folks, even as a big name it still sometimes comes down to who you know!

A Most Violent Year will be released on December 31.
