Felicity Jones on ‘The Theory of Everything’, Her Career, and Meeting Stephen Hawking

Felicity Jones touches upon how she auditioned for her role in the film, meeting with the real-life woman she portrays and acting with Eddie Redmayne

While Eddie Redmayne has been getting the lion’s share of the praise for The Theory of Everything for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking, it’s important not to forget about the film’s other great performance — Felicity Jones, who plays Hawking’s first wife Jane. Like her co-star, Jones has been nominated for an Oscar for her performance. She’s come a long way from her roots as a child actress.

In this Screen Actors Guild Foundation Q&A session that was recorded shortly after the initial U.S. release of The Theory of Everything, Jones speaks to Jenelle Riley of Variety about her whole career. Jones touches upon the performances that impress her, how she auditioned for her role in the film, meeting with the real-life woman she portrays as well as Stephen Hawking, and acting with Redmayne as his character underwent physical changes in the film.
