Watch: Emma Stone’s Audition for ‘Easy A’

Emma Stone makes her Broadway performance debut today in the first preview of Cabaret, taking over the role from Michelle Williams. It’s probably quite nerve-wracking for Stone to debut in such a high-profile role, especially since the first few years of her screen acting career consisted of bit parts or supporting roles on television and in film.

Stone finally starred in her first lead movie role in 2010’s Easy A, but she had to jump through a number of hoops in order to land the part — including filming her audition as a webcam confession that her character does in the film. Though brief, it shows how the internet has changed the audition process for many actors — though I doubt Stone’s audition for Cabaret was done via the internet!
