Anthony Mackie: “As an actor in this business, you’re the last one to know how your stock has changed”

"As an actor in this business, you're the last one to know how your stock has changed."

Anthony Mackie is trying to adjust to the new found respect Hollywood has shown him since his role as Sgt. J. T. Sanborn in the Oscar winning film “The Hurt Locker“.  He has noticed a change in his status, going from mostly unknown to being in demand, and with that status comes the added benefit of offers for higher-profile roles, like his new film, “The Adjustment Bureau“.

Not all that long ago, Mackie was simply trying to choose the right projects. “As an actor in this business, you’re the last one to know how your stock has changed.” He admits what he would really like to do is comedy. Quite surprisingly, rather than call his agent and request he be put into the next “buddy/sidekick film” he instead went the route of enrolling in comedy classes, and then he accepted a small role in the  Anna Faris/Chris Evans romantic comedy “What’s Your Number?”

I wanted to get my feet wet and see what it was like,” he explains. “I’m very happy being number four on the call sheet, because I can make fun of people and enjoy craft services all day.”

  1. “What’s Your Number?” features Anna Faris and Chris EVANS, not Chris Pine. Google and IMDb are your friends!
