Bradley Cooper Doesn’t Want To Win an Oscar

Bradley Cooper might be one of the only actors who actually insists he doesn’t want to win an Oscar (or at least that’s what he says.)

In an interview with British GQ, as reported by Yahoo! News, Cooper said, “I don’t want to win an Oscar.  It would change nothing.  Nothing.  The things in my life that aren’t fulfilled would not be fulfilled.  Career-wise, right now, it’s better that I don’t win one.  I don’t want to win.  I don’t.”

Well, it’s a good thing his recent nomination for Best Actor for Silver Linings Playbook didn’t result in a win then.  But Cooper maintains that his reasons for not wanting Hollywood’s biggest honor is because of the experience he went through when his dad died two years ago.

“I watched him dying and I was there by his bed watching him, breathing with him, and then I saw his last breath and he was gone,” Cooper said.  “I experienced the whole thing.  And that was a watershed moment that I was privileged to experience.  And it changed everything. Nothing has ever been the same.”

“You know William Blake’s song ‘Songs of Innocence’?  Well, right there, in that moment, the innocence was gone.  Done.  Never to return.  The beauty is that I just don’t sweat s**t anymore.”

At least Cooper doesn’t have to worry about winning an Oscar for his next performance—in The Hangover Part III.
