Anne Hathaway: “People Didn’t Think I Could ‘Pull Off’ British Accent” (Video)

"I've had people come up to me who have seen it actually and they say, 'I didn't think you could pull it off.'

With Anne Hathaway‘s latest movie venture as One Day’s Emma hitting the screens this past weekend (Aug. 19th), the actress has been making the promotional rounds.  In a interview with MTV News, Hathaway shared that certain people “had no faith in me whatsoever,” when it came to pulling off a British accent for director Lone Scherfig‘s romantic drama that spans decades of love shared between the actress and her co-star Jim Sturgess.

“I’ve had people come up to me who have seen it actually and they say, ‘I didn’t think you could pull it off.’ And people feel inclined to tell me that they really had no faith in me whatsoever,” jokes Hathaway, who seems to have nailed the British tongue of a native.  Hathaway also shared that “so far, it’s ended with a, ‘But you surprised me, and I really enjoyed your performance.’ But I’m just waiting for that person to come up and say, ‘Well I knew you couldn’t do it.”
