English Star of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Becomes a Literal Savior by Saving Family from Blaze

Levi James saved two trapped parents and their ten-month-old daughter from their burning apartment in Patchway, England, and then sprayed the fire with a garden hose until the firefighters came to the scene of the blaze.

Thank the Lord!  In this case, it’s about as close as literally as you can get.

UK’s The Mirror reports that Levi James saved two trapped parents and their ten-month-old daughter from their burning apartment in Patchway, England, and then sprayed the fire with a garden hose until the firefighters came to the scene of the blaze.

Now that is a great story in itself, but what makes it even more interesting is that James had just completed starring as Jesus in Bristol’s Thornbury Musical Theatre’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar and obviously took the role of Savior to heart.

Unsurprisingly, James was coy about his role in the rescue, explaining, “It was a towering inferno. The petrol tank of a car outside looked as if it was sizzling. I stood between her [the baby] and the fire and shielded her from it.  I started to try to get the fire under control. The fire service turned up a couple of minutes after that and I thought I’d let the big boys deal with it. I assumed it was a petrol bomb or some kind of arson. I don’t think of it as a big hero thing. You’ve just got to get your head down and solve the problem.”

James appears to also have the gift of prophecy, because authorities later confirmed that the cause of the blaze was arson.

All kidding aside, this a wonderful story to read.  We wish the rescued family well and that James has continued success in his acting career.
