Watch: Jim Carrey’s Audition Tape for ‘Man on the Moon’

Jim Carrey returns to one of his zaniest and most famous movie characters in Dumb and Dumber To, which comes out in theaters today. Though watch Dumb and Dumber To might bring you back to 1994, this audition tape of Carrey’s for Man on the Moon might bring you back to 1999. At the time, Carrey was at the height of his fame, but before he was cast in the lead role of the Andy Kaufman biopic he had to make an audition tape.

Carrey recreates a few of Kaufman’s most famous bits, including Foreign Man and Mighty Mouse and his pro wrestling interviews. The performance isn’t quite Carrey and isn’t quite Kaufman, but it shows the enthusiasm that Carrey would bring to the role. You can check out the clip above.
