Watch: A Conversation with Saoirse Ronan of ‘Brooklyn’

Ronan goes into detail about the challenges of shooting a period piece and the significant amount of emotional scenes in the film

At only twenty-one years old, Saoirse Ronan has received both a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination (for 2007’s Atonement) and a Best Actress Oscar nomination (for 2015’s Brooklyn). Although she didn’t win either, it’s unlikely that Ronan will go without getting another chance soon. In particular, her role in Brooklyn — in which she plays a young immigrant woman coming to New York City in the 1950s — received considerable praise for its maturity. If you missed it, Brooklyn is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.

In a conversation presented by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and moderated by Bruce Fretts of Closer Weekly, Ronan goes into detail about the challenges of shooting a period piece and the significant amount of emotional scenes in the film.
