Key & Peele star Keegan-Michael Key is no stranger to improv acting from his years on MADtv and his frequent appearances on Who’s Line is it Anyway?, and Key draws from that experience in his new film Don’t Think Twice, which is out in theaters today. The film follows a group of six improv actors when one of them gets picked as a new cast member on the SNL-like Weekend Live and the massive amounts of professional jealousy that follow.

It’s a sentiment that Key expresses in this segment of off Camera with Sam Jones. He describes improv actors as being “at war together” as they figure out scenes together. In this clip, Key does a phenomenal job of describing how the minds of improv actors work together, and how one actor trying to show off instead of playing off one another can derail an entire performance.
