While the CSI franchise isn’t going anywhere just yet with CSI: Cyber still on television, the flagship series that started it all, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, ended its fifteen-year run this week. Although the cast has had featured a number of leads coming and going over the series’ run, one face that has been part of the series from the very beginning is Jorja Fox, who portrayed Sara Sidle on the series. Fox spoke to the Los Angeles Times about crossing the finish line of the long-running series.

Despite being out of a regular job for the first time in fifteen years, Fox is remaining positive. She says, “I think you kind of have to embrace the unknown if you’re an actor.” Prior to CSI she appeared on The West Wing, ER, and in movies like Memento, so she’s no stranger to acting outside of the CSI umbrella.

She has used her downtime between CSI seasons to produce nature documentaries, but she does have plans to continue acting. She explains, “I helped produce three documentary films through my company Seafox Productions these last few years, and I’d like to continue making documentaries. It’s been a very rewarding experience. I‘m most excited about not knowing what I am going to do next or where I am going to land. I can count the ways I’m not going to miss CSI on one hand. I won’t miss the early calls, the late nights, the extreme heat, the extreme cold or the plastic vest I’ve worn for more than 10 years. Other than that, I’m going to miss everything about CSI, but I’ve always enjoyed not knowing exactly where the road leads.”
