Watch: Conversations with Brie Larson and Lenny Abrahamson of ‘Room’

The pair spoke about the complexity of the character-driven film and the challenge of ensuring the audience would stay engaged with a film that almost entirely takes place within one room.

A little over a year ago even diehard film fans had little idea of who Brie Larson was — and now she has won an Oscar for Best Actress. What changed things for the 21 Jump Street star was Room, the little-movie-that-could that showed audiences what Larson was capable of as an actress. Room is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.

Helping her make that revelation is Irish director Lenny Abrahamson, who directed Room. Last fall, the star and director of Room sat with Jenelle Riley of Variety for a conversation presented by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. The pair spoke about the complexity of the character-driven film and the challenge of ensuring the audience would stay engaged with a film that almost entirely takes place within one room.
