"It's part of the job, I've got to sell this thing. But it's just a gross feeling. It makes me insecure."

Though fans around the world know Chris Evans as Captain America, the Avenger has been open about the fact that he’s not particularly keen on acting anymore as much as he is interested in filmmaking. He’s also already said that he expects his role in the two-film Avengers: Infinity War — which will be his fifth and sixth time playing Captain America in a lead role and thus would fulfill his contract with Marvel Studios — will be his final blockbuster movie roles.

That might have not been the case if he signed the original contract that Marvel offered him, which was for nine movies. He tells Rolling Stone, “It’s nuts. If you make a big movie like Independence Day, they’ll lock you up for three movies. But nine is insane. We got it down to six.” Part of the reason for his dissatisfaction with playing one of the world’s most famous superhero is that he didn’t just sign on for six movies — he signed on to promoting them as well, which is something Evans is very uncomfortable with. He points out, “This is the most outside asks you can incorporate into a movie. It’s part of the job, I’ve got to sell this thing. But it’s just a gross feeling. It makes me insecure.”

He tells the interviewer that acting serves as a release for him, explaining, “The noise goes away. You’re just leaned into the experience. You’re really riding the wave of just living.” Of course, he immediately second guesses his words, adding, “That’s an incredibly douche-y thing to say. Please don’t put that in there. Ugh! ‘Riding the wave of just living’?”
