Today is House of Cards star Robin Wright‘s birthday. While it’s normally customary to give someone gifts for his or her birthday, instead Wright has a gift for you today.

In 2007, the Golden Globe-winning actress shot this tutorial about how to build a character and explains why spending just one hour with an acting coach taught her everything she needed to know to express herself as a character. In this clip she passes along that education to you in just eight minutes. Talk about learning fast! She also discusses how she approached playing a character totally different to her own personality in 2002’s White Oleander.
