As an Actor, Remember to Find the Joy

Written by Amy Lyndon, Founder & CEO of The Lyndon Technique

I want all of you to think back when it was, where you were and how it felt when you made the decision that you wanted to be an Actor.

For me, I was in camp muddling through the play “Two Gentleman Of Verona” for 10 year olds, when a wave of utter joy filled my heart. At first I didn’t know what it was, then it hit me. I want to feel this for the rest of my life. I want to be an actress. The camaraderie with my fellow Actors playing together, the feelings inside that I was able to express and the accolades from friends, family and sometimes strangers sealed the deal.

That feeling of joy is what I want for you every day. Every moment when you start to consider the uphill battle, when you experience the hardships, when someone says “no” and makes you feel bad; go back to that time and remember where you were and how you felt when you made the decision to become an artist – an actor.

It is in that place that you will find the strength to maneuver the hardships. It is in that place that you will find the love again for each and every one of your characters that you get to play. It is in that place that you will fall in love with yourself as an artist and bring it back into your life, your work and into running your business.

You will see incredible results. Attach yourself to your dream and move through the darkness and live in that artist world so that pushing through the business becomes effortless.

As Arthur Rubinstein said, “I have found that if you love life, life will love you back.”

Love you all!
