FOX has 5 new scripted shows coming this fall: The Following, The Mindy Project, The Goodwin Games, Ben & Kate and The Mob Doctor.

I put all of the trailers in order of my favorites. The Following stars Kevin Bacon and looks pretty damn good. The Mindy Project with Mindy Kaling is a show that I’ll definitely try out.

Check them all out below! The Following

Cast: Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy, Natalie Zea, Shawn Ashmore, Jeananne Goossen, Valorie Curry, Adan Canto, Nico Tortorella, Kyle Catlett

Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.

The Goodwin Games

Synopsis: From the executive producers of “How I Met Your Mother,” THE GOODWIN GAMES is a single-camera comedy that tells the story of three grown siblings who return home after their father’s death, and unexpectedly find themselves poised to inherit a vast fortune – if they adhere to their late father’s wishes.

Ben & Kate

Cast: Dakota Johnson, Nat Faxon, Maggie Jones, Lucy Punch, Echo Kellum

Synopsis: What happens when an exuberant, irresponsible dreamer who always says “yes” moves in with his overly responsible little sister to help raise her five-year-old daughter? The Mob Doctor

To pay off her brother’s life-threatening gambling debt, she makes a deal with the devil and agrees to work “off book” for the mafia men she once despised.

  1. The Following looks worth checking out.

As for Mindy Kaling’s show — well, judging merely by the trailer, the writing seems a little weak, frankly.

Okay, I know How I Met Your Mother is ostensibly about one end goal — an uber story climax, if you will — but it’s actually not. It’s just as much a character and situation-based comedy about 5 friends as it is about reaching that eventuality. The Goodwin Games, on the other hand, looks to be focused far more on “getting Daddy’s inheritance”, and while it seems funny enough, is it a strong enough premise for an entire series?

Ben & Kate looks badly miscast, excepting the adorable little girl and Lucy Punch, who plays the friend. Just don’t see this making it very far.

Surprised the lead in Mob Doctor went to such a relatively unknown actor. Didn’t really get a sense that she could definitively carry a series on her own, but I might watch, just to see if the show is actually any good. And hey, I’m all for any chance to see William Forsythe chewing up the scenery. 😉

  2. The FOX shows had a big shoulder shrug from me. Mindy Kaling’s show I’ll definitely check out though. I’ll be rooting for it.

Ben & Kate… uh? Maybe it’s another Raising Hope? And I don’t know why someone just doesnt give Lucy Punch her own show. Like now.

    Awesome comments, btw. Thanks!
