Jim Sturgess: The Challenges of ‘One Day’
August 23, 2011 by Sarah Luoma
According to a recent Huffington Post interview, One Day actor Jim Sturgess‘ biggest challenge as a performer, who seems to drift in and out of the Hollywood spotlight, could be due to his insanely talented on-screen transformations or maybe its his films that “have been so polarizing, critics are too busy choosing a side to focus their attentions on his acting.” Either way, there’s always an obstacles and challenges that lay ahead when an actor takes on a role.
For Sturgess there appears to be a few, not that fans will notice. The thirty year old, who plays the main character Dexter, a “flawed and sort of fake,” individual, Sturgess shared that he “has never quite had an experience he could relate to his character’s. It was hard. In the book you really get to spend a lot more time with him and he becomes a bit more excusable — for the film you have to try to find a real fine balance, knowing when to push for more of the arrogant side and knowing when to expose the more vulnerable side.”
Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway‘s One Day opened on August 19th.
