Jeff Bridges Practices Meditation to Bring ‘Dynamics’ to His Life
August 30, 2011 by Chris McKittrick
It turns out that Jeff Bridges is a lot more like his famous Tron character Kevin Flynn than we ever realized. In Tron: Legacy it is revealed that Flynn has turned to meditation during his nearly three decade imprisonment in the electronic world of Tron to find inner peace. But Daily Fill reveals that mediation isn’t just a habit of Flynn — Jeff Bridges himself meditates daily.
But just why does the Oscar winner and Big Lebowski star meditate?
Bridges says it’s all about bringing positive “dynamics” into one’s life. He elaborates, “I meditated yesterday morning. I skipped today because I got up late, but it’s very effective for me. It’s good to block out external stimulus for a set amount of time, because, for one thing, it enhances the experience when you are stimulated by something. It brings dynamics to your life.”
Well if meditation has helped Bridges turn in roles like Bad Blake in Crazy Heart, Rooster Cogburn in True Grit, and Jack Lucas in The Fisher King, I recommend it to any actor!

In the “normal” state of mind, your mind is working in various directions. It is functioning as it usually does which means it is bouncing from one idea and thought to the next. In fact, this is quite abnormal activity for the brain because it needs to focus on a lesser amount of ideas if it is to be successful in resolving problems.

I’ve wanted to try meditation for ages now. I should just do it.
