Actor shot while filming a chase scene
November 2, 2010 by Lance Carter
An actor filming a robbery scene has been shot dead by a security guard in the Philippines.
Kirk Abella was wearing a mask, carrying a gun and riding a motorcycle while filming a getaway scene for the British film Going Somewhere. A security guard saw this going down and thought the actor was a robber and shot him. The 32-year old actor drove into a lamppost and fell into the street. He later in a hospital.
The security guard is now in custody facing homicide charges.
But… apparently the shooting isn’t as cut and dry as it sounds.
Before the shooting, the guard borrowed a friend’s illegal .357 firearm and went to the police station where he was told that filming was happening in the area. He and another police officer went to the set hoping to help the production.
The police chief has no idea why he shot Abella.
On Tuesday, the guard will be formally charged with homicide and possession of a firearm.

Apparently, Barney didn’t like being denied his close-up. Guess he watched Taxi Driver a few too many times. Sad end for an working actor, and yet, an ironic epitaph. RIP

Yeah. I’ve been looking for the follow-up to the story but haven’t seen anything yet. Hope they give the guy the chair or whatever they do out there
