South By Southwest: The Good, The Great
March 18, 2010 by Lance Carter
I’m back from South By Southwest (SXSW) and let me tell you, it was an experience! If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know what I mean.
In five days, I saw 10 movies and interviewed 19 actors and directors.
And now, I’m exhausted!
I interviewed:
Edward Norton and Tim Blake Nelson for their fun and incredibly entertaining film, Leaves Of Grass.
Kyle Gallner and Brittney Robertson for coming of age story, Cherry.
Jon Foster and Director Will Canon from the great film, Brotherhood. How good was it? Well, it won the SXSW Award for Narrative Feature.
Patrick Wilson, Judy Greer, Chloe Sevigny and Director Chris D’Arienzo for the hilarious, Barry Munday.
John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and directors Jay and Mark Duplass for the also hilarious, Cyrus.
Lee Turgensen, Paul Fitzgerald and director Joe Infantolino for the incredibly acted, Helena From The Wedding.
Ashley Green and Shiloh Fernandez from Skateland. I loved this move… what more can I say?
And now, the Daily Actor SXSW Awards!
The Funniest Interview Award
Patrick Wilson & Judy Greer. From the second they sat down, they were cracking jokes, making each other laugh and making us laugh in the process.
Nicest Guy Ever Award
Shiloh Fernandez. Probably one of the most refreshing people I’ve ever interviewed. Instead of me just asking him questions, we had an actual conversation.
Coolest Moment Award
Tim Blake Nelson remembering me from the previous days roundtable interview and having an actual conversation with me.
Can’t Wait For You To Hear The Interview Award
Edward Norton and Tim Blake Nelson. I asked them how they approached their roles and their answers were refreshing. Come on, Edward Norton talking to you about acting? how cool is that?
I’m An Idiot Award
You really think I’m going to tell you guys what I did and said? Hah!
And finally….
* I also got to sit in on Jeffrey Tambors Acting Workshop. I took a bunch of notes and I’ll post them as soon as I can.
* I went to the IFC Crossroads house and sat in on an interview they did with the cast of MacGruber (HILARIOUS!) Thanks IFC!
