Jackie Earle Hailey to star as… Freddy Krueger?

I don’t report on a lot of casting information cause then I would be writing all day, but this one… I couldn’t help myself.

I love Jackie Earle Haley. I think he’s just so great. I mean, did you see Watchmen? He was the only one worth watching in that film – and he was behind a mask 90% of the film.

When I saw this, I’m kind of half excited and half apprehensive. The casting is perfect, I have to admit.

It’s a reboot of the series and it was written by Wesley Strick (Cape Fear) so that might be good.

Director Samuel Bayer said Haley showed ability to evoke emotion in viewers by playing the Rorschach in “Watchmen.”

“Looking at his performance.’ Here’s a guy playing a character under a mask yet you feel tremendous empathy for him,” Bayer said.
