Film incentives helping Wisconsin's economy
December 17, 2008 by Lance Carter
Wisconsin’s new tax breaks for the film and video game industry have brought in more than $9.2 million and created at least 850 jobs this year, according to a new analysis obtained by The Associated Press.
“By looking at these numbers it’s absolute proof that the incentives work to bring more revenue into the state of Wisconsin,” Scott Robbe, executive director for Film Wisconsin, told The AP.
Eight feature films, including the Johnny Depp film “Public Enemies,” and more a dozen television shows filmed in Wisconsin this year, Robbe said. There were also a pilot filmed in Milwaukee and several national TV commercials.
