Clint Eastwood on casting first-time actors

Clint Eastwood was asked recently if casting first time actors in his new film, ‘Gran Torino‘ was a risk?

“Yes, I was taking a chance. I felt that was the only way to do it. There certainly weren’t many Hmong actors. There was only one that I know of. It is very obscure for us. We don’t know a lot about that group of people and that is what made it interesting for us.”

Ok… that’s great that he cast new actors…but c’mon, how many Hmong actors are there? He had to cast new actors. But still Clint rocks.
