An Evening With… Orly Sitowitz

August 8, 2008 by Daily Actor

Orly Sitowitz (Painkow/Sitowitz Casting) told a story about having to find and book an actor on July 4th to work on a film in New Orleans that next day. The previous actor had to drop out and they were in a major panic.

She looked through her workshop files and because the actor had his phone number on his resume, he booked the part and was on a plane at midnight (read our previous article on phone numbers on your resume).

Background:
- Went to USC and got her BFA
- Went to NYU “for about 3 minutes”
- Found the kids for the film, Freedom Writers
- Found Leelee Sobieski for the TV movie, Joan of Arc

She loves to find new actors and give them a shot for her projects!

She teaches an audition technique class.

And finally, she says “The difference between booking a job and not - is a hair.”
